Etc...

So I'm rooting through my tabs and came across some former/current exhibitor news...

There will be a showing of Jim Rugg's work in Pittsburgh. Opening's on March 29th at the Toonseum in Pittsburgh.
___________________________________________

Nate Powell's e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e. He's working on an issue of Jeff Lemire's Sweet Tooth and will be adapting Rick (Percy Jackson) Riordan's Lost Hero into comic form. Nate will be once again tabling at the show this year.

___________________________________________

Sparkplug is trying to raising funds to publish the stuff the late Dylan Williams was working on before he passed away from cancer last year...
'Reich, a series by Elijah Brubaker, is the ongoing biography of eminent sexologist Wilhelm Reich; this will be issue 9.  Olga Volozova, who has released Rock That Never Sleeps (a collaboration with Juliacks) and The Airy Tales through Sparkplug, brings us The Golem of Gabirol.  Each of these will have full color covers and black and white interior pages.'

Steve Niles is trying to work out an alternative to Diamond with one of my favorite labels- Epitaph Records. Locals will know, was (and is) the label for New Bomb Turks. This would be crazy awesome if it happens.

Blink book "Wonka Wonka Kochalka," a Gallery Show

To celebrate the completion of Max Ink's newest Blink book "Wonka Wonka Kochalka," a Gallery Show of the comic is on display at Wild Goose Creative throughout March and April. "Wonka Wonka Kochalka" is the first chapter in the graphic novel, BLINK: SO IT GOES and the exhibit features all 33 pages (over 40 feet!) of the original comic book art.

There will be two events during the course of this exhibition:

**Gallery Night Reception**Thursday, March 15th 7p-9p This is going to be a relaxed evening of comics and conversation with complimentary food and drinks provided by CK Catering as well as free BLINK mini comics.

***BLINK: "Wonka Wonka Kochalka" Book Release Party! ***Friday, March 30th 7p-11p This is it! Max Ink's "Wonka Wonka Kochalka" book will finally be released to the world (8 years in the making!) and it's gonna be a PARTY with lots of food, drinks (provided again by CK Catering) and live music! Featuring JASON QUICKSALL, ELIJAH AARON, The SATURDAY GIANT, The PSYCHOTIC BLONDES (Bree Frick & Molly Winters of The SALTY CARAMELS) and the evening's festivities will be MC'd by IAN HUMMEL. There will be a CHARITY RAFFLE (to benefit the Wild Goose, which is non-profit) with plenty of comics & prizes awarded throughout the night.

Max Ink's BLINK comic book series is set in the neighborhoods of Columbus and features "slice-of-life" stories about three charming characters, Hank, Sam and Blink. Since its inception in 2003, BLINK has showcased numerous Columbus landmarks and hang outs such as Goodale Park, Stauf's Coffee House and the Park of Roses. "Wonka Wonka Kochalka" is no different: the 32-page story is set the Wild Goose Creative and the Rumba Cafe.

Ink's work has received much praise over the years, with many reviewers commenting on the beautiful art and real-life dialog. But the characters themselves are the focus in BLINK; to the point where they seem "less like characters and (more like) people you could easily know.” The style and tone of Ink's stories is "smooth and natural, and just happens. It's real life right on the printed page." One reviewer even likened reading BLINK to "a refreshing adult beverage — relaxing, comfortable, and yet eye-opening in noticing the world from a new perspective."

The exhibit features all the pages from the "Wonka Wonka Kochalka" chapter in sequence, so viewers can actually read the comic in its entirety on the gallery wall! Each piece of sequential art measures 14" X 17" and is drawn in pen and ink. The printed book will be available for sale on March 30th as well as copies of "Behind the Sketchbook: The Making of Wonka Wonka Kochalka."

Nix Western Comics #1 Kickstarter / Columbus Indie Comix Fair

Last weekend's Indie Comix Fair was a roaring sucess mostly due to mastermind, Ken Eppstein, who got the media out in droves to promote it.  We had coverage in the Columbus Dispatch Weekender, Columbus Alive, and The Other Paper.  The small show which showcased about 10 local small press publisher drew a pretty health crowd.  I was talking most of the day and went home hoarse.  I also sold a record number of weekend SPACE passes at a single event.
Please support Ken and Nix comics by contributing to his current kickstarter program,
Nix Western Comics #1 Kickstarter
Nix Western Comics #1 is scheduled to premiere at SPACE.  Also premiering from Nix is
Nix Comics For Kids #1 Starring Boy Howdie which you can find out more about at the SPACE Premiere Comics Page.
