Subject: Sunday Comix Anthology to benefit
AFSP
As many of you know, the Sunday Comix Cartooning Group,
based in Columbus, has twice collected comics from the creators at SPACE and
raffled them off to raise money for the American Foundation for
Suicide Prevention(AFSP). The first time was in 2011 in memory of
Ray Tomczak’s nephew. This year we did it again in memory of Joe Reiff, a young
member of our group.
To continue our fundraising
efforts, we are seeking submissions to a forthcoming comic anthology, Connections, which will serve as a
more lasting way to honor not only the memories of these two young people, and
the countless others who have died by suicide, but also the strength of their
friends and families and of everyone who has lost a loved one to
suicide.
We are looking for 1 to 10 page
self-contained comics on the themes of loss, growth, renewal, and reinvention by
both established and newer comic creators and teams. Stories need not be about
suicide and suicide prevention. They can be fiction or non-fiction. We will
not shy away from stories dealing with darkness, as long as they are
life-affirming. We also won’t shy away from humor, as long as it is appropriate
for this collection.
We are asking everyone who is interested in contributing a
story to send us a short synopsis of the story you plan to do by December 15,
2013.
More information about our anthology can be found at http://connectionscomic.wordpress.com/ or you can e-mail me
at connectionscomic@gmail.com.
Thanks!
Canada Keck
